1. Information We Collect

  • Comments
When you leave a comment, we collect the information you provide (name, email, website, and comment text), your IP address, and browser user-agent string. We may hash your email to check for a Gravatar. Once approved, your profile picture (if any) is visible publicly alongside your comment.
  • Media Uploads
If you upload images, please remove any embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download and inspect any metadata in those images.
  • Cookies & Tracking
    • Comment-saving cookies: If you opt in after leaving a comment, we store your name, email, and website in cookies for one year to simplify future comments.
    • Login cookies: On the login page we set a temporary cookie to verify that your browser accepts cookies. After logging in, we set cookies to remember your session (2 days), screen preferences (1 year), and—if you select “Remember Me”—your login for 2 weeks. Logging out removes these cookies.
    • Editor cookies: When editing or publishing content, we set a one-day cookie that stores the post ID you last edited (no personal data).
  • Embedded Content
Articles and pages may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images) from third-party sites. These embeds behave as if you visited that site directly—which may set cookies or track your interaction.

2. How We Use Your Data

  • To moderate and display comments.
  • To provide and secure your user account and login session.
  • To improve spam detection and site functionality.

If you request a password reset, we include your IP address in the reset email.

3. Data Retention

  • Comments and Metadata: Retained indefinitely to recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically.
  • Registered Users: We store the personal data you provide in your user profile. You can view, edit, or delete your personal information at any time (except your username). Site administrators can also manage this data.

4. Your Rights

If you have an account or have left comments, you may:

  • Request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request deletion of any personal data we hold (except data we must retain for legal or security purposes).

To exercise these rights, please contact us at [email protected].

5. Sharing & Third-Party Services

  • Spam Detection: Visitor comments may be checked via an automated spam-detection service.
  • Embedded Third Parties: Embedded content may collect data in accordance with their own privacy policies.

6. Where Your Data Is Sent

Data and comments remain on our servers (hosted by Hostinger). Third-party embeds and spam services may receive limited data as described above.

If you have questions or concerns about this policy, please contact us at [email protected].
